Turning the Vision into Technical Reality
Your vision is to bring a film, or group of films, to your community. Many small festivals and specialty screenings start with a similar idea, and come to fruition because the organizer(s) found the right people and the right answers. One of the main issues you are going to have to resolve is: where in the latest and greatest technology do I start, and how do all the various technical possibilities affect my vision? First and foremost don't be afraid to ask questions and be persistent until you get an answer that you can understand. As an event producer or coordinator it isn't necessary for you to be an expert in the technical aspects of projection but the more you comprehend the better off you will be. Know your technical requirements and capabilities from as early on in the planning as possible. These will often be determined by the nature and size of your event, and will probably help determine the venues you will be able to use.
